Stress-related concern

Academic & performance stress

The pressure to perform — grades, deadlines, the fear of falling behind — is one of the most common things we treat in college students. Get support from therapists who understand what a syllabus week actually feels like.

Most students with insurance pay a $25 average copay. No insurance? Sessions start at $110.

What is academic & performance stress?

Academic and performance stress is the ongoing pressure to meet expectations — your own, your family's, or your program's — around grades, deadlines, and achievement. Left unaddressed, it can spiral into chronic anxiety, burnout, or avoidance that makes the original problem worse.

How it affects college students

Almost every student experiences some academic pressure, but for many it becomes constant: dread before every exam, all-nighters that don't actually help, and a nagging sense that nothing is ever good enough. It's often tangled up with family expectations, financial pressure (scholarships, loans), and comparison to peers — and it can show up physically as sleep problems, appetite changes, or constant fatigue.

Our treatment approach

Our therapists help you build practical coping strategies for the actual pressure points — exam anxiety, procrastination cycles, perfectionism — while also addressing what's underneath it, whether that's family expectations, fear of failure, or burnout. This is talk-therapy-led care, with medication management available if anxiety or depression symptoms are also present.
