Substance-related concern

Substance use

Losing control over drinking or other substances is more common in college environments than people admit out loud — and it's treatable. Get judgment-free, evidence-based support from providers who understand campus culture.

Most students with insurance pay a $25 average copay. No insurance? Sessions start at $110.

What is substance use concern?

A substance use concern is a pattern of alcohol or drug use that's starting to affect your health, relationships, academics, or wellbeing — even if it doesn't look like what you picture as "addiction." It exists on a spectrum, from using substances to cope with stress to more significant dependence.

How it affects college students

College culture often normalizes heavy drinking and casual substance use, which can make it hard to notice when a pattern has become a problem. Substance use in college students frequently overlaps with anxiety, depression, or academic stress — often as a coping mechanism that ends up creating new problems of its own.
